I went out just to clip a bit of jasmine 'cause the original (foreground) section was almost touching the house. An hour later and I have a revamped jasmine! I have done some surface clipping but I also figured out I could thin it by pulling out the dead old stuff underneath. Much better. Now the old section is a fraction of it's previous depth, the green bin is full and I've loaded two big buckets of dry leaves into the compost. I shouldn't have to do quite that again for a couple of years. I'm also delighted to report that my fence winding project is paying off. I can now see goodly amounts of vine from all three south sash window. So much prettier than just old grotty fence. Even prettier in spring when the flowers come- generally when it's too cold to open the windows :-).
