This is the skirt that nearly defeated me on Saturday. After a bit of a break I came up with successful alterations. The top tier was too long and too tight. So the waistband got cut off (then unpicked), top tier shortened (twice) and regathered to the waistband. The whole thing was then shorter than intended so I needed to face the hem rather than just turn it up. The button panel also had to be wider but that looks ok. Whew.

I know this isn't high fashion, I just want a few comfy, warm, long skirts for knocking about the house in. Sexier than trackie dacks even if old fashioned. More able to be tolerated leaving the house too. This cut is a copy of a very favourite ex garment of mine. The original was made in a lightweight denim.

This fabric is an accidental wool seersucker. It started out as shiny, fabulous, self striped, fine italian wool suiting, shot beige and white. (bought for very little from our faithful Eliza's) The striping was done in slightly different weight thread, hmm. I was thinking that with a blue dye through it would make a wonder summer weight sideless gown. Well. I did put the blue dye through it and love the resulting pale watery colour. I'm rather less fond of the seersucker effect caused by the shrinking of the stripes! And no, it doesn't press out.
