I braved the cold, made easier by the presence of actual sunlight. I've planted pinks in between the row of armeria under the roses. So I now have alternating brilliant green and sagey grey mounds of perennial grassy plants that produce pretty flowers on stalks. All robust plants that seem to like my garden conditions and don't mind a bit of dry.

.

So these pinks*,, in order from the letterbox are: simple white clove pink, Candy floss, Coconut Sundae, Sugar Plum and Mrs Sinkins.
.

*otherwise known as perennial scented dianthus. Also of course, wonderfully old fashioned.
