I am feeling very insular today. Still getting over the 4 day full-time (including breakfasts and evenings) conference. So time alone at home cooking and gardening feels really therapeutic.
Cooking
-I have a ham hock slowly bubbling on the stove into stock.
-I've made borscht from doushkasmum's beets.
-Shortly I'll make some strawberry sauce and a savoury bread pudding
-Much of this will be used in tonight's dinner-to celebrate a birthday and to be made mostly from party leftovers :-).
Garden
-roses are pruned, and sprayed with lime sulphur. They don't get enough sun and suffer from a variety of fungal and mite issues
-discovered that one of the chinese lanterns was lousy with some bug or other so that has been pyrethrumed
-the scented yellow vine I transplanted maybe a year ago? is finally flowering. The poor thing either doesn't like the conditions or has been suffering a bad case of transplant shock, or maybe both?
