The black coat of procrastination swishyness is finished! Cut out a little over 2 years ago, stalled when I couldn't decide how to do the buttonholes, silly me. Lived under a sheet on the dress dummy for the whole of the next winter.

I girded my whatsits about 6 weeks ago, and now it's done. It's the black coat I've always wanted but no one would sell me. Pics below. I promise it sits better on me than on the dummy, it hangs rather on her.

Wool cashmere coating. German cotton velvet collar and cuffs. Silk satin lining(which I forgot to take a pic of, is a warm mid grey with a diamond jaquard spot, and lace edging). Pattern based on one borrowed from doushkasmum. Fit fairly substantially altered.

As a consequence of the top pocket gaping a bit, I added this interesting froggy loop thingo, hand made, and yes, that is a fingerloop woven braid. What I hadn't anticipated is that it looks rather like a medal. Order of the determined dressmaker?

I'm loving our early spring weather, but it's too warm to wear my new coat! (not complaining, really I'm not)
