ah. I have a bit of time and mental energy to be creative rather than emptying my brain out at work. Lovely. It's such a relief to let design projects out of my head.

In my musings, this gown was going to be made entirely from the embroidered pinwhale cord. But I only had 2metres, not enough!  What I did have though was some creamy stretch cord with beautiful printed chocolate roses- which turned out to be not enough for the skirt I had been meaning to make. Ha. Well, I reckon they do better together than they would have separately, and it gave me a reason to use the last scraps of marvellous rayon brocaded satin for the tie. I'm so pleased with this. There is even enough of the rose fabric left to make a straight skirt.

I confess I gleaned the pattern from a favourite bought gown in pale pink spotted voile. I've altered it a little but only marginally. The major change is to make it wrap rather than tie centrally.

Now I get to retire the heavy towelling gown I fell out with in autumn. It presses apon one in an unwelcome way.
