I want a nice cream blanket for my bed. I could buy one, but I haven't seen one I like. I do have an old fancy knitting pattern and some cast off leftovers of wool from Mama. I've rememorised this pattern and it makes excellent compact knitting to carry about and do anywhere. A sock knitting alternative for a while. I'm thinking I'll knit a border lace when or if I get far enough to need one. That's something I've not done before.

Does anyone have bits of cream 8ply wool they fancy donating? or white, or even very pale grey I think.

This is as much as I've made so far. I've one more part ball of cream wool from Mama. If no one has any more for me, then I'll visit or order from Bendigo WM.

This sort of pattern was knitted in cotton as coverlets in the late 19th, early 20thC. So it is even appropro to the age of my house! Below are a few vintage examples.

Below is the much copied pattern. If I haven't knitted it for a while I need to read it as I go, but it's pretty quick to memorise I find. I remember things like "do the K1 yarn over thing until the purl on the back rows gets to 9". Or Knit the next section until it gets to K6 before the yarn over and spine, then switch to decrease section"
